Air Canada Jazz dispatchers ratify labour agreement
HALIFAX, May 26 /CNW/ - Air Canada Jazz announced today that its tentative agreement reached on May 16th with its dispatchers, represented by the Canadian Air Line Dispatchers Association (CALDA), has been ratified. CALDA is the first of Air Canada Jazz's unions to ratify a new collective agreement.
The re-negotiated contract with Air Canada Jazz's 50 dispatchers was part of the $200 million cost reduction target established by Deutsche Bank for Air Canada and its subsidiaries per their Standby Purchase Agreement.
"Congratulations to our employees and to CALDA for being the first to ratify their labour agreement and for recognizing the many opportunities that exist for Jazz in the future," said Joseph D. Randell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada Jazz.
The ratification processes for Air Canada Jazz's 1000 pilots (represented by the Air Line Pilots Association International), 600 flight attendants (represented by Teamsters Canada), and 800 maintenance and engineering employees, 600 customer service agents and 20 crew schedulers (represented by the Canadian Auto Workers) are ongoing.
Air Canada Jazz is Canada's second largest airline, operating a fleet of over 90 aircraft to over 70 destinations in Canada and the United States.
